Student Conference Award Program (S-CAP)

SCAP

Please Note:

In compliance with the UNM Travel Policy 4030 and UNM Foreign Nationals Policy 2180, all visiting Foreign National students must reflect that their travels are for official University business. Allowable University business purposes are as follows,

  • Presenting a paper or making a poster presentation.
  • Required for completion of their degree.

Have you ever wanted to attend a professional or academic conference? Do you have a paper you would like to present at a national meeting? Would you like to expand your networking opportunities? Are the travel expenses too costly? The S-CAP program is for you!

The Student Conference Award Program (S-CAP) is designed to provide undergraduate and graduate students the opportunity to obtain funding to attend an academic or professional conference in their field of study. The maximum award is $600.00 and may include: round trip travel, lodging, airport shuttle or taxi fees, and conference registration fees.

We begin accepting applications 1 month prior to the start of each semester to accommodate those conferences scheduled early. It is required that you submit your application no less than 1 month prior to the conference.

Due to the popularity of this program it is recommended that you submit your application as early as the 'start date for applications to be accepted' each semester to avoid being placed on a waiting list.
