The University of New Mexico has been selected to work with the Partnership for Public Service out of Washington DC to design, implement, and test various approaches, events, and “tool kits” on campus as we work with key members of the university community (notably faculty and administrators, career service professionals, and student organizations) in support of the goal of attracting college students to public sector work. Once demonstrated, the successful approaches and strategies will be integrated into the Partnership for Public Service’s national higher education initiative.
UNM is one of six universities selected to participate in this pilot project with the Partnership for Public Service. The other participating schools include The George Washington University, Clark Atlanta University, Louisiana State University, Ohio State University, and Stanford University. In addition, since the success of federal recruiting on college campuses will ultimately depend on the participation of federal agencies, Call to Serve has recruited a set of advisors from a variety of federal agencies who will contribute their insight throughout the design and implementation of the pilot project. The employer advisory board includes representatives from the Central Intelligence Agency, State Department, Government Accountability Office, Department of Defense, National Security Agency, Department of Transportation, Department of Homeland Security, Social Security Administration, National Aeronautics and Space Administration, Office of Personnel Management, and the Department of Energy.
